The GDPR for Small Businesses
On this page you can find out more about The GDPR for Small Businesses, our tailored, comprehensive course on the UK's current data protection legislation. Any small business or sole trader using personal information is required to comply with the GDPR. This training explains your obligations and helps you understand how to run a GDPR compliant business.
About this course
Designed by data protection expert, Damian Hamill, this online training is designed to demystify the GDPR for sole traders and small businesses, by explaining how the legislation is relevant to you and helping you make your business GDPR compliant.
Specifically developed for those working as a sole trader or running a small business, this course explains clearly, and with examples based on the circumstances of those handling personal information in such settings, how to comply with the GDPR. This will give you and your customers, clients and employees greater confidence that you are handling their personal data in a fair and lawful manner.
Contents include...
Although the overarching Principles of the GDPR are quite straightforward, the practical application of those Principles in the real world is more complex and can leave many sole traders and small business owners confused, worried and bewildered.
This course can give you the peace of mind that comes from knowing you comply with the legislation and can respond confidently to questions from your Data Subjects or official bodies!
It explains data protection 'jargon' clearly, allowing you to understand the 'language of the GDPR'. It explores the underlying rationale and purpose of the Principles of data protection and links them to clear and practical steps that embed those Principles in the real world. It helps you understand what you must do under the legislation, what you can do as good practice, and what you are not allowed to do. Throughout the course, the reasoning behind the legislation is explained and illustrated with relevant real life examples.
Who is this course suitable for?
This course is ideal for anyone working as a sole trader or small business owner who wants to understand how the GDPR applies to them and how to implement it into their business.
I understand that small business owners already have a lot on their plate, having to understand marketing, accounts, health and safety (to name just a few things) as well as running their core business. I know that getting to grips with the GDPR and other data protection legislation can seem like just another confusing piece of legislation to try to get your head around.
It can seem overwhelming!
I have many years of experience in making the GDPR clear and accessible for those who don't have endless time to delve into the subject and who don't want to spend a fortune paying solicitors or major consultancies to do it for them. It's what I did day in-day out for thousands of individuals, businesses and organisations - many of them, like you, trying to get to grips with what seemed like bewildering legislation and jargon.
Let me make it simple for you too.
This course is suitable for:
and practitioners or teachers of any other form of complementary therapy or healing.
Please note- the GDPR applies to the UK and all the remaining member states of the European Union. Each country that is subject to the GDPR has its own accompanying national legislation that regulates areas where the GDPR allows for national discretion. In the UK, this is the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA2018).
This course covers the GDPR and the additional provisions of the DPA2018. Consequently, it is most relevant to those based in the UK or offering goods and services to customers within the UK, even if you are not yourself based in the UK. If you are based in another country subject to the GDPR, this course will not cover aspects of your own equivalent national legislation to the DPA2018.
